A Communicator with the New Patriotic Party in the Upper East Region Miss Tabitha Ayillah has called for unity amongst political parties to end the canker of corruption in the country.

According to Miss Tabitha, the fight against corruption is a national one; a fight not to be left in the ambit of specific governments or persons. She encouraged residents to support government’s fight corruption with the same zeal with which they fought colonialism; which had hijacked the prospects of the country in the colonial era. She said this while speaking to Samuel Mbura on A1 Radio’s Day Break Upper East.

“If we both the NDC and the NPP let go of hypocrisy and face corruption as we faced slavery and fought our colonial masters and gained independence. If we all see corruption in this country and come together as one to fight it will help all of us, we cannot fight corruption by pinpointing at one government,” she stated.

Commenting on the President’s commitment to fighting corruption she added that, “the President has made it clear to us by ensuring that various institutions are given resources needed to fight corruption and has done it by creating the office of the special prosecutor”.

Reiterating the need for collaboration to fight the canker, Tabitha lashed out at Ghanaians who have refused to desist from corrupt practices explaining that “it is not only politicians who are corrupt but it starts from the little unpatriotic things some Ghanaians do”.
