Deputy Communication Director of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), Dr. Richard Asante has justified the party’s decision to dress down the opposition National Democratic Congress at the former’s annual Delegates’ Conference held in Kumasi on Sunday, December 19, 2021.

He explained that it was rational to use the occasion to educate Ghanaians as well as the party’s members on the ‘unprecedented’ performance of the party upon assumption of office in 2017 in order that the electorates do not fall prey to the propaganda of the opposition National Democratic Congress(NDC).

He made these remarks in an interview on A1 Radio’s Daybreak Upper East show on Monday, December 20, 2021.

According to him, the flagship programmes implemented by the current government such as Free SHS, 1 District 1 Ambulance, the digitalization drive, among others have made it unparalleled in terms of development in the history of the country’s democratic dispensation.

“We had people watching us across the globe including the NDC themselves. So once they have spoken about things and given indications, we needed to let Ghanaians know and also let our delegates know that; you know what? Do not succumb to the NDC propaganda and I would want to call it the naked propaganda and the half-truths and the lies that they continue to peddle to the ordinary people but rather ensure that your party is solid in terms of providing real leadership to the people of this country”.

He continued “the party has gone out there and implemented policies that have never happened in this country; unprecedented policies. The party has been able to achieve certain milestone that has never been done in the annals of our history as a country. It is unprecedented in our for any government to come in and give the entire country free education.”

The NPP held its annual delegates’ conference in Kumasi on Sunday, December, 19, 2021.

Speaking at the conference, Vice president, Dr. Mahammud Bawumia stated that the Nana Addo led administration is deploying innovative ways to transform the country.

He said mobile money interoperability, digital address system and the paperless clearing of goods at the ports among others are testaments of the fact that the NPP has managed the economy better than the previous John Mahama’s administration.

“The changes we are making as a party in government are historic and we are building on the distinguished legacy of President J.A Kufuor. Ours is a government that’s thinking outside the box to transform the country”. Stated Dr Bawumia.

These achievements, Dr. Asante believes are uncontested.

“I think that nobody can contest some of the things that were listed by the Vice President that you continuously talk about.
