UE: Zinga community wins Kalbeo inter-clan football gala

The Zinga community has emerged winners of the 2021/2022 Kalbeo Inter-Clans football gala, after beating the defending champions, Akabiisi clan, two goals to nil at the Atakow football Park on Saturday 8th January 2022.

The tournament was organized by a youth group in the community known as ‘Concern Youth of Kalbeo’.

Speaking at the final day where the Zinga community lifted the trophy for the second edition of the tournament, Chairman of the organizers Samuel Nyaaba noted that it has become necessary to organize the football games for the entire community in order to foster peace and unity in the area for development.

The clans within the Kalbeo community include; Awure, Akabiisi, Alokobiisi, Saabaye, Kunduoba, Tasua, Zinga, and Avolibiisi.

The Zinga clan which emerged victorious received a trophy, four(4) packs of soft drinks and Gh¢ 450.00. Akabiisi which was second also when home with three (3) packs of soft drinks and Gh¢ 350.00, whiles Alokobiisi which was placed third position received two(2) packs of soft drinks.

Meanwhile, each of the eight clans that participated in the tournament received an amount of Gh¢200.00 from the Member of Parliament for Bolgatanga Central Isaac Adongo, for participating in the tournament.

Mr. Godwin Akapire, who spoke on behalf of the Chief of Kalbeo expressed excitement that the Youth group has been able to come out with such a tournament that has brought the entire community together.

The Chief also took the opportunity to encourage all young people, especially the footballers, to be serious with their God-given talent. According to him, he foresees a player from Kalbeo becoming a world best player in future.

The Assembly Member for the Kalbeo Electoral Area Mathias Asokiyine who couldn’t hide his joy about the tournament thanked the organizers and the entire community for making the gala possible. According to Mr. Asokiyine football has changed the stories of many communities across the world, hence the need for the people of Kalbeo to also take advantage of what the ‘Concern Youth of Kalbeo’ are embarking on.
