AFCON 2021: We’ll die till the end – Ayew

Black Stars Captain Andre Dede Ayew has assured the nation that every player who wears the national team jersey at the 2021 Africa Cup of Nations will sweat to the last drop.

“Whatever happens, we will die till the end,” he said at the pre-match press conference. “We will die on the pitch.”

Akufo-Addo, Bawumia, Mahama et al wish Black Stars well

President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo has wished the Black Stars well ahead of their 2021 Africa Cup of Nations clash with the Atlas Lions of Morocco.

In a video clip, President Akufo-Addo reiterated that the target for the team is to bring home the trophy to end the 40-year drought.

Vice President Alhaji Dr Mahamudu Bawumia, in a tweet, assured of the nation’s support as the campaign for a fifth African title begins.

Former President John Dramani Mahama, also in a tweet, wished the team well not only in Monday’s encounter but also in subsequent matches.

The US Embassy in Accra has also wished the team well with a picture of the Ambassador Stephanie S. Sullivan in the trademark Black Stars strip.

Fans expect Black Stars win in AFCON opener

Ghanaian fans expecting a win from the Black Stars in the Africa Cup of Nations Group C opener against the Atlas Lions of Morocco overshadow those expecting any other result.
