Lecture Halls and Theaters at the University for Development Studies, UDS, in Tamale were not as busy as usual due to the nationwide strike embarked upon by the University Teachers Association of Ghana, UTAG.
A visit by GBC News to the Tamale Campus of UDS saw freshmen and continuing students going through the registration process for the academic year.
Nevertheless, there were no lectures going on for continuing students.
Some of the students, who spoke to the news team, were of the view that the strike could affect their academic calendar, if not resolved on time.
Some of the students, particularly continuing ones, contended that the timing of the strike was wrong because Examination for the Trimester will begin in a few weeks.
Confirming the strike, Vice President of UDS Chapter of UTAG, Professor Victor Mogre, said academic work and its related activities have been suspended for the time being.
He admitted that the action will affect the academic calendar of the school, particularly for continuing students.
He, however, indicated that other unrelated activities including supervision, research work, and registration are ongoing.
