Burkina Faso authorities at the Dakola – Paga border have hinted that the country’s border closure directive by the military, after the coup, only affects human movement.

They noted that the directive is in full force but cargo trucks are exempted.

Though they refused to speak on tape, they noted that exemption includes tomatoes traders.

When A1radioonline.com interacted with some of the cargo drivers, including the tomatoes traders entering the Dakola – Paga border, they explained that they did not face any disturbances from the military personnel on their way to transport food products especially at the various checkpoints in Burkina Faso.

They, however, acknowledged the tightening of the security personnel at the checkpoints but stressed that the coup does not impede their business activities.

One cargo driver said, “…they (security men) allowed us to pass, they only checked our ID cards.”

Another at the border point of entering Burkina Faso also prayed for God’s protection and travelling mercy.

Meanwhile, people around at the border at the time of this report were seen going around their normal business.
