The Member of Parliament Sissala East who doubles as the Deputy Minister for Sanitation and Water Resources, Amidu Chinnia Issahaku has expressed serious concerns about the nature of the Wa-Tumu-Bolga road. Mr. Amidu Chinnia said as an MP and a resident from the Sissala East Area, the state of the road gives him sleepless nights.

Speaking on A1 Radio’s Day Break Upper East, Mr. Chinnia said the road, which has been in terrible shape for decades is a big disincentive for businesses in the area and prospective investors. For this reason, he invited the Minister of Roads sometime last year to visit the area to have firsthand information about the road.

“In my first year in Parliament, I was able to engage the Minister for Roads and Highways. In fact, in the course of last year, my Regional Minister and I, we brought him to Tumu and on our way, he [the minister of Roads and Highways] had a flat tire around Jeffisi and when we got to Tumu, he said, MP you do not need to talk, I have seen it”.

“There are two major bridges when you are coming from the Chuchuliga side; one at Nabuli and the other at Kunchogu that they needed to do some work on. Right now the contractor is on sight and is busily working on it. I spoke with him and he has given me the assurance that once they are working those two bridges, he will now do the road”.

One of the bridges being worked on.

“By the end of this year to next year, we will see something better on that stretch of road. On the Wa stretch too some steps have been taken,” he explained.
