Residents of the Bolgatanga Municipality of the Upper East region for some time now have complained of the darkened nature of the Municipality, especially during the night.

For this reason, the Municipal Assembly has embarked on an exercise to repair all malfunctioning street lights in the Bolgatanga township. The process is expected to be completed within the shortest possible time.

Speaking to A1 News the Municipal Chief Executive, Rex Asanga noted that, the darkness that engulfs the town at night is one that worries him a lot.

“We handed over the site to an electrical constructor to fix the street lights in town, because for some time now most of the street lights are down and the town is dark and people are complaining. So we started the procurement process, which took us some time, but now I am happy to say that we have been able to finish with that process, and the contractor has been awarded the contract to work on the street lights”.

According to the MCE, the contractor would need a maximum of three (3) months to complete the project in the entire municipality.
