The Bolgatanga Municipal Health Directorate has expressed enjoy over the decision by the Bolgatanga Municipal Assembly to expand the Tindosobiligo CHIPS compound to a standard health facility.

The Bolgatanga Municipal Assembly has awarded a contract for the construction of an ultramodern health facility in addition to the already existing CHIPS compound in Tindosobiligo.

According to the MCE, Rex Asanga, it became necessary for the Assembly to expand the CHIPS compound due to its limited capacity which does not meet the requirement of a befitting CHIPS compound.

Speaking to A1 News the Municipal Health Director Edmond Mohammed Nyanwura said the expansion of the CHIPS compound will go a long way to help both the community and his outfit in terms of effective health care delivery.

According to Mr. Nyanwura, the facility which will be added will have a maternity unit, which is significant for every CHIPS compound in order to have preventive health delivery at the community level.

“We are actually happy, that the Assembly is going to add something to this place. Having a maternity wing is very useful for the community because we are talking about preventive health when we have the CHIPS compound, which is the most important thing. And in prevention health delivery the maternal and the newborn is very critical so having more space makes it easy. And will also make sure, we have more stuff so that all the basic services that we needed can take place,” he said.

The Municipal Health Director Mr. Nyanwura again noted that most of the CHIPS compounds in the Municipality are unable to manage some minor cases due to inadequate infrastructure. He thus appealed for all CHIPS compounds to be properly equipped.
