Residents of Buru-Navio, a community in the Kassena Nankana West District of the Upper East Region, have always struggled to access quality health care delivery and other social amenities in the area.
The community though has a resident population of about 1000 residents, successive governments have failed to provide for their basic needs.
The situation compelled the Overlord of the Area, Navio Pio Pe Adams Kwarase Asongojem Parijei Adurigola II to take development matters to his hands as that forms part of the primary role of every chief.
Speaking to A1 Radio, the Overlord indicated that development comes in many ways and chiefs play pivotal roles in realizing the said development.
“Politicians can do their bit in terms of development but chiefs should champion development in their areas. That is our primary role as chiefs to seek development for our people and I’m doing just that for my people.”
The Navio Pio Pe Adams has sought support from his foreign partners. An ultra-modern health facility will soon be built in the community to ease the plight of the residents.
The facility according to him, if constructed will have all needed health departments in it including staff-quarters.
“This facility will have OPD, Maternity block, Children’s ward, Administration, X-ray department and many more. My people have suffered for a long in terms of their health conditions so they deserve the best. God is working, and indeed, it shall come to pass. We have already allocated a site for construction. And I must say everything geared toward putting up the facility is working smoothly.”
“How I came to meet these foreign partners which my community members are now calling them their ‘God’ only God knows”, he stressed.
He added that before the construction of the facility will even commence, his partners also pledged to renovate some of the basic schools in the community.
“They have already sent paint to us, to start doing the painting of some of the old schools. The schools’ toilets will also be renovated to flashing latrines. Clean water will be provided to some of the schools that don’t have water and other basic amenities will be provided to aid the children have a quality stay in school.”
Meanwhile, the Overlord of Buru-Navio Traditional Area, Navio Pio Pe Adams Kwarase Asongojem Parijei Adurigola II, will in December celebrate his 10th anniversary with the theme “Bringing Africans Together for Unity, Peace, Development and Promoting Our Culture”.
The anniversary he explained will bring together friends from far and near including those in the diaspora.
