The Municipal Chief Executive of Bolgatanga, Rex Asanga has noted that nightclubs, hotels and other social event centres that entertain minors late into the night would soon face the wrath of the Bolgatanga Municipal Assembly.

Speaking on A1 Radio’s DayBreak Upper East show, the MCE explained that there will be heavy sanctions imposed on these late-night social centres that flagrantly abuse the dictates of the by-laws.

“We had a number of complaints and, you know, we are all in town and we know what is happening about minors being allowed to actively patronise nightclubs and other social events that often keep them late into the night, so the Assembly has decided to apply the by-laws,” he stated.
He said, “you know it’s for the protection of the children there are many by-laws that talks about protection of minors so, it is coming from the national law so we have taken the decision to inform all night clubs who make use of the services of these minors that, that will no longer be allowed”.
He noted that the Assembly will begin by sensitising owners of pubs about the new directive before its implementation adding that “the security agencies will be visiting nightclubs and they go to bars and restaurants that operate and ensure that minors are not been there”.
