UE: Chieftaincy in Nabdam deteriorated; we’re working to fix it – Paramount Chief of Nangodi

Naba Yelzoya Kosom Asaga II, Paramount Chief of the Nangodi Traditional Area says the Nabdam land is still recovering from the disputes that arose during the reign of his predecessor.

According to Naba Yelzoya Kosom Asaga II, even though he is poised to the rebuilding of Nabdam land, he is still challenged because of the remnants and far-reaching effects of the conflicts that persisted over the last decade.

Speaking in an exclusive interview with A1 Radio, Naba Yelzoya Kosom Asaga II, stated, “you judge what you have done according to the measure of where you want to get to. By the history that I know, Nangodi and Nabruug, we have fallen so much,” he said.

He added that “I’ll say whatever I have done is just still laying the foundation, I’ve not gotten there at all”.

The Paramount Chief bemoaned that, even though there has been some level of development in the resolution of the chieftaincy issues, there is still some level of disunity amongst the locals. Naba Yelzoya Kosom Asaga II explained that he is bent on making sure that he helps in fostering peace, unity and co-existence amongst the people to chart the path of recovery.

“There is so much sectionalism and when people are divided they cannot make proper progress,” he said.

He has therefore appealed to locals to eschew all sorts of violence and ensure that eternal peace reigns in Nabru’ug (Nabdam).

Meanwhile, speaking on the same platform, Naba Yelzoya Kosom Asaga II revealed that his skin did not have any chief for eleven years due to the disputes that had greeted the reign of his predecessor.

According to him, the terrible event that climaxed his predecessor’s reign had a terrible blow on the development of the area.
