Alfred Asante, an SRC Presidential aspirant at the recently ended Student Representative Council (SRC) and local National Union of Ghana Students (NUGS) elections at the C.K. Tedam University for Technology and Applied Sciences (CKT-UTAS) has said he has been traumatized by events that happened during his ‘fight’ for justice to prevail.

Speaking on A1 Radio’s Day Break Upper East, Mr Asante explained that in his attempts to ensure that all the irregularities that characterised the recent elections were addressed, he was arrested.

He claimed that after he was picked up by the police, he was informed by the security personnel who picked him up that, he was suspected to be the mastermind behind the faceless individuals who had threatened the safety management members of the school over the issues raised before, during and after the election.

“They were saying that we were behind some group of students who exerted pressure on management demanding for the report [by the committee set up to investigate the irregularities reported during the course of the election,”

“They [the police] told us that, there is a particular number that they suspected that there was a particular number on Whatsapp with the name CKT Tiger Eye and that the person was issuing threats to management and other and other staff so they suspect that it is coming from my camp,” he said.

After his arrest, he said some staff members came to interact with the police service. It is still unclear, the details of the said conversations.

“We are also seeking justice on why we were arrested. For me, it has caused psychological trauma. It is my first time appearing at the police station. This particular thing has really affected me in terms of my academics,” he lamented.
