The National Executive Committee (NEC) of the People’s National Convention (PNC) has terminated the membership of 2020 Presidential Candidate David Apasera and National Chairman Moses Danibaah “following their penchant for breaching the constitution of the PNC”.

The two are said to have defied Article 14(a) of the party’s constitution.

In a communique issued after the end of the NEC meeting on Thursday, May 12, it was concluded that the two had unduly conveyed a Standing Committee meeting on Saturday, May 7.

“The said meeting was attended by some members of the party despite an official caution from the party leadership,” the communique issued by the members of NEC said.

As a result, all 12 attending members including First Vice Chairperson Hajia Hajara Ali and Third Vice Chairperson Alhaji Omar Bekure as well as National Organiser Abass Nuhu have been asked to step aside from their respective positions “pending disciplinary hearing”.

In September, 2021, Mr. Apasera and Mr. Danibaah were removed on the grounds of misconduct and financial misappropriation.

They consequently headed to court, which instructed them to exhaust the party’s internal processes of resolution. It is on the back of this that the NEC met to take Thursday’s decision.
