The Acting Director of the Institute of intelligence and strategic security Dr. Saddick Adu- Twum has called on the National Security Ministry and various security agencies to intensify their public awareness of terrorist attacks and other activities that may be a threat to national peace and cohesion.

Speaking on Day Break Upper East Show on A1 Radio, Dr. Adu-Twum believes that, these terrorist groups employ the services of aggrieved locals to carry out their activities adding that if citizens are abreast with the issues of terrorism, it would go a long way to help in the fight against such acts,

He stated, “we need to sensitize and conscientize our people for them to understand the basic security measures that they need to undertake in preventing some of these things.”

Commenting on how vigilant community folks should be in the wake of these terrorism movements Dr. Adu-Twum noted that, “we will have to sensitize and educate our people that when they see unusual movement. They should be able to report to the appropriate authorities. In this case, we are telling the Police Service that they need to create that kind of confidence-based relationship with the community in which information is given to them that information is used properly.”

Dr. Adu-Twum charged the security agencies to protect people who volunteer information. His comments come on the back of the calls by the National Security Ministry,  especially worship centres to be vigilant in the wake of terrorist attacks in the West African Sub-region.
