Dr. Moses Atinga, an aspirant for the New Patriotic Party’s (NPP) Upper East Regional chairmanship race is asking delegates to give him the chance to lead the party in the region ahead of the 2024 general election.

Dr. Atinga, speaking on A1 Radio’s Day Break Upper East Show explained that the NPP’s performance at the 2020 general elections “was not the best”. He explained that the party could have done better than it did. It would be recalled that the NPP lost 3 seats and only managed to win the seat in the Binduri constituency.

Dr. Atinga, who is the current 1st Vice Chairman of the party explained that it may not be right to squarely put blame on him for the performance of the party stressing that “the buck did not stop with me. The party gives the Chairman tremendous power but the role of the 1st Vice-Chair is not specified in the party’s constitution.”

Dr. Atinga believed that his role as 1st Vice-Chair limited his effectiveness as a party leader. This is why he is aspiring for the chairmanship role insisting that he wants to lead the party to enable it to experience a turn-around.

“A leader is one who is able to identify the God-given talents of the members of that particular institution, and for this case, the NPP, and deploy them appropriately to help you implement and achieve your vision for that particular institution. I am coming onboard with a strategy. My strategy is the tripod strategy,” he said.

He was optimistic that “by the grace of God, once that strategy is implemented in this region, by 2024 and by January 2025, this party that is currently in opposition in the Upper East Region, would move into power in this region.”

Dr Atinga’s tripod strategy is hinged on three main pillars. They are; human resource development, covert operations or submarine operations and overt operations. The overt operations, he said, focus on redefining political party communications “from the top to the bottom.”
