Nabdam for Christ, an association of various denominations in the Nabdam District of the Upper East Region has been successfully inaugurated with a prayer for peace among residents of the region and the country as a whole.

Nabdam for Christ which started in 2019 comprises pastors and ministers of the gospel of Jesus Christ who are residents of Nabdam or either working in Nabdam or natives of Nabdam but residing elsewhere.

The Chief Servant for Nabdam for Christ, Reverend Martin Lamisi Sebire in a speech said the association will continue to pray against social vices and for coexistence among the people of Bawku and Doba, and Kandiga.

“During the peak of Covid-19, we cried that it should not visit the borders of our community. We prayed for a reduction in road accidents. We also prayed against social vices such as teenage pregnancies; early marriages and armed robbery to be reduced in our land. We are concerned about the peace of the land and the region at large and we cry daily for divine intervention. We appeal to our brothers in Bawku, Doba/Kandiga to coexist peacefully for the development of the region,” he said.

The association currently has 36 denominations, 78 churches, 95 pastors and ministers as well as several elders and deacons. Nabdam for Christ is a brainchild of the Paramount Chief of Nangodi, Naba Yelzoya Kosom Asaga II.

Naba Yelzoya II said even though he holds the throne of Nangodi, he believes in the Holy Bible hence his decision to serve God through His son, Jesus Christ.

“The Bible says the Kingdoms of this world have become the Kingdoms of the Lord. This means that there is going to be a day that every Kingdom on this earth will become the Kingdom of our Lord. And so, we have dedicated our Kingdom to God in preparation for that season,” he said.

The paramount chief of Nangodi who led the charged atmosphere in praises and worship called for religious tolerance among the people of the Upper East Region. The inauguration of Nabdam for Christ brought together hundreds of women, men, children, chiefs, and assemblymen and was held at Pelungu in the Nabdam district.

Chief of Pelungu Traditional Area, Naab Serig Sore Sobil IV reiterated the need for unity among the residents.

District Chief Executive for Nabdam, Agnes Anamoo was optimistic that the inauguration of the Nabdam for Christ will restore unity among the people of the area, the region, and Ghana as a whole.
