The Navrongo Parliamentary seat would go to the NPP at the 2024 Presidential and Parliamentary election. This is according to the Navrongo Constituency Secretary for the New Patriotic Party (NPP), Moses Amoah.

The people of the Navrongo Constituency are currently represented by the NDC’s Sampson Tangombu Chiragia.

Moses Amoah, the only constituency executive who retained his old position in the recent election said the voting style of the delegates, along with the expanded interest in the NPP’s constituency reorganisation is a sign of what is to come.

“If you look at the way the delegates voted, it shows they are poised for action. Some energy has been thrown in there. Some kind of confidence has been reposed even at the polling station level. There are young guys in there now. When you go to the polling station, over 80 percent are young people. It tells you the NPP is poised for action in 2024.”

“You can see the NDC MP, his own people have begun to lose confidence in him. They do not see him doing anything. He has been dormant,” he said.

Mr Amoah continued to say that “he is just in Parliament, cosying up and just talking on radio and he is leaving the constituency to rot. There are no developmental projects. You see other MPs donating here and there, building infrastructure and attending to the needs of the constituents.”

Speaking on A1 Radio’s Day Break Upper West Show today, Monday, May 23, 2022, Mr Amoah said there are clear indications that the MP, Mr. Tangombu Chiragia has failed and thus would be voted out of office in the next election.

“This is someone who has been very dormant. Ever since he was elected, it even looks as if we do not have an MP. I know Navrongo very well and I know the people of Navrongo always look for the best for themselves and looking at Sampson, I think that he is the worst thing to have ever happened to Navrongo.”

“The people of Navrongo would not repeat such a mistake in 2024,” he said.

The Navrongo Constituency Secretary continued to say that “any MCE, DCE, mayor or MP who solely relies on DACF is an armchair appointee. You do not expect an appointee to be in Parliament and only depend on DACF. I always say that the likes of Samuel Okudzeto Ablakwa, even though he belongs to the other side, I admire him. Look at the fantastic job he is doing in his constituency.”

“When you rely on DACF alone, you will fail and that is why the Navrongo MP has failed and his own party members are against him,” he added.
