GIPC pays courtesy call on Upper East Regional Coordinating Council

The Ghana Investment Promotion Centre (GIPC) has paid a courtesy call on the Upper East Regional Coordinating Council with an aim of creating awareness about the operations and activities of the Centre in the region.

Dr. George Asafo-Adjei, the Head of Monitoring and Evaluation said the visit also formed part of the Centre’s attempt to identify business opportunities in the region and market same to local and foreign investors for the expansion of local businesses through funding support and collaborations.

According to Dr. Asafo Adjei, employment opportunities would be created for the teeming youth if the agency identifies suitable business opportunities in the Region.

“Our aim here is to come and engage you and to create the needed awareness about the activities of Ghana Investment Promotion Centre which primarily identifies investment opportunities within the region, market them to potential investors.”

“Also, to prop-up domestic investors to make sure that they can partner with foreign investors to create the needed jobs for the teeming youth within this region. So our message to you this morning is very simple, we are here to see how best we can top up domestic investors and to also identify investment opportunities within the region,” he said.

Alhaji Abubakari Inusah, the Upper East Regional Coordinating Director who spoke on behalf of the Upper East Regional Minister, Stephen Yakubu welcomed the team and noted that the region is open to investors due to its poor nature. According to him, there are many business potentials in the Upper East region awaiting investors.

The Coordinating Director took the opportunity to touch on the various sector of the economy that the Upper East region has with regard to the raw materials from which investors can step in and benefit.
