The newly appointed Regional Communications Director for the NPP in the Upper East Region, Peter Ayinbisa is insinuating that the rancour and seeming general discomfort from sections of the NPP in the region that surrounded his appointment into office was expected.

Speaking on A1 Radio’s Day Break Upper East Show, the former DCE for the Bongo Constituency explained that as with most political appointments, there would be people who would be dissatisfied, unhappy and uncomfortable. These people would express their frustrations and emotions openly. With this in mind, the comments that surrounded his appointment were to be expected.

“Is there any appointment in this country that comes so easily? Is there any appointment; whether a ministerial appointment, or a CEO’s appointment? Even you as host, do you know that others wanted to host the political morning show? So no appointment comes easily. There is a lot of lobbying that goes on behind the scenes.”

“There’s a lot of saying [that goes like] he is not competent, he is not one of us, he is not part of the group; and all those things. A lot of things came to play but of course, the regional executives concluded unanimously that these 7 people are the ones that, at this material moment, to come and assist them to carry out their duties,” he said.

He said the elected executives were expected to make appointments to the remaining portfolios bearing the mind the party’s agenda of breaking the 8.

Mr. Ayinbisa explained that while there may have been some lobbying, particularly for the position of Regional Communications Director, “it did not come with fighting. We did not heat that.”

“Of course, people would not be happy [particularly] if you have been lobbying, been part of the system for years, and there is an opportunity, you would think that it should come to you. Sometimes, it works that way, other times, it does not work that way.”
