The Member of Parliament for Navrongo Central Constituency Sampson Tangombu has supported calls demanding the completion of the Navrongo Youth Resource Center in the Upper East Region.

The centre was commissioned for work in 2018, but since has been abandoned and is now in a deplorable state due to lack of funding.

Given that, the youth and some football lovers in the region have trooped to Navrongo to request the completion of the centre through a peaceful match on some principal streets of the town.

Excited by the demands of the youth, the MP of the area indicated that several approaches have been made to the Sports Ministry and the responses usually boiled down to lack of funding.

“I have made a lot of approaches to the Sports Minister any time I see him in Parliament regarding this Resources Center. The fact is, there is no money to complete the third phase. The Ministry I’m told lacks funding to carry out the project. But I’m happy the youth are demanding this; their demands will reach the President and those who matter and perhaps something good will come out. We have talented young people who if this centre was completed will be the faces of Ghana in terms of sporting activities. So, I will keep on pushing this agenda in Parliament.”

He however called on opinion leaders to rally support in demanding the completion of the sports stadium.

“I also called on the traditional and other sports authorities in the region to come out and support the cause. If we all in the region rally behind the already established agenda #fix the Navrongo sports stadium#, I think the government of the day will come to our aid.”
