UE: SAMMO urges parents to take keen interest in adolescent girls’ menstrual hygiene

Safe Menstruation Movement (SAMMO), a non-governmental organization based in the Upper East region has admonished Parents to be interested in their adolescent girls’ menstrual hygiene.

SAMMO, a voluntary organization, is into educating and informing young girls about their Menstrual hygiene and health in the Upper East Region. The group noted that some parents are not concerned about their girl child’s menstrual hygiene.

This came out after engagements with the adolescent Girls.

President of SAMMO, Paul Nsobuno, made this statement when the organization visited the Methodist School Complex in Bolgatanga to educate the girls on their menstrual hygiene and to also donate some sanitary pads to them.

The exercise was supported by SAMMO’s partners the Blessing Baskets Project Ghana and Britney Tachie Foundation.

Mr. Nsobuno stated that SAMMO has so far, with its little resources and with the support from its partners reached out to about 32 primary and junior high schools in the Region.

Executive Director of Blessing Baskets Project Ghana, Abdulai Asuah who witnessed the donation ceremony at the Methodist school complex in Bolgatanga municipality expressed some level of excitement to be associated with SAMMO.

He gave the assurance that his organisation would be on hand to support such initiatives.Mr. Asuah has therefore noted the importance of menstrual hygiene to girls, especially adolescent girls, he used the opportunity to declare his outfit wildness to continue supporting SAMMO’s activities in order to help put smiles on the faces of the vulnerable Young Girls in communities and various schools.
