The National Democratic Congress (NDC) has introduced a digital payment platform to allow members to file for nominations online, pay monthly dues, and register new members. According to the party, this will allow members to make all kinds of payments through digital platforms in the comfort of their homes and workplaces.

But the Upper East Regional Secretary of NDC, Donatus Akamugre Atanga stated that while the digital payment is a good move for the party, it is also important for his party to still consider the manual collection of funds as well.

According to him, the digital platform will not be favourable for some members especially those in remote locations to utilize the system. The longest Regional Secretary in Ghana spoke on the Daybreak Upper East show.

“I am not quite sure that going digital alone would help. We still have areas as far as Builsa South that is not properly connected. So unless you collect the money and then move out of the area to then enter it digitally. I do not know what strategies they would want to use. I think that it should be partly digital and partly manual.”

“I expect that when they are giving us the details, they would be giving us all that. We at the regional level were not invited to the launch so those questions were not thrown. Those of us implementing on the ground, we are aware that there will be problems,” he said.
