Benson Tongo Baba (BT Baba), the Member of Parliament for the Talensi Constituency in the Upper East Region is confident that the National Democratic Congress would retain the Talensi seat, go on to win majority seats in Parliament and ultimately, win the Presidential election.
While emphatic about the retention of the seat in Talensi, the MP, BT Baba was coy about his future as MP for the area. He was however confident that an NDC government is nigh.
He said this when he spoke exclusively with A1 Radio in his home at Tenzug in the Talensi District of the Upper East Region.
“Going forward, NDC will win the Talensi seat. NDC will win both the Presidential and Parliamentary seats. NDC will be the next government; in 2025.”
“We are coming back to transform the country and to reduce the effects of the current situation on the lives of the people.”
Earlier, the MP advocated the implementation of non-custodial prison sentences to help manage the numbers of prisoners under lock and key in the country.
He said due to the overpopulation of prisons in Ghana coupled with the inadequacy of funds allocated to cater to the needs of the said prisoners, Ghana’s best bet at managing the negative consequences of the prison system is to implement non-custodial sentences for minor offences and first-time offenders.
He also underscored the need for sports development in the Upper East Region.
