An Educationist and Management Expert, Nii Armah Addy is unhappy about how issues of education are being hand in the country. According to Mr. Addy, students under the free Senior High school policy have many serious problems that need to be resolved by taking immediate pragmatic measures. These problems, he reckons, are not being solved because partisan politics.

Mr. Addy who was speaking on A1 Radio’s Reporters Visit show said, dragging of politics into the educational sector is affecting the sector.

“We don’t have text books. We are running a shift system that we try to run away from but we can not run away from it. Go to the schools; now form three’s and two’s are there form ones are home. So why do we what to do this? It is nothing than politics of education. It is nothing than political mathematics of our education where people feel that by giving people free education, no matter how diluted it is, they will reward you with votes. That is not good. The quality is not good.”

“If we don’t depart from politics of education, it is going to mess up the education sector. It is already messed-up.”

Mr. Addy expressed disappointment over the inconsistences between the Education Ministry and the Ghana Education Service over whether or not the free Senior high school should be reviewed.

“How can you have the Ministry of Education and the GES who are suppose to be working hand in hand contradicting themselves? One day the Director general says this, the next day we are told he doesn’t know what he is about”
