The President of Ghana, Nana Addo Danquah Akufo Addo has given a strong indication the Upper East Region could become a stronghold of the New Patriotic Party in the coming years.

While admitting that it would not be an easy feat, the President was confident that it is a situation that is feasible.

President Akufo Addo said this when he spoke in an interview on GBC’s URA Radio and monitored by this website.

“You know we [NPP] do not do very well here. Whenever I come here, I feel very very encouraged; we should continue.”

“We want to make the Upper East Region another NPP stronghold. It is not going to be easy. You have to put your best foot forward,” he said.

The President is in the Upper East Region for a day’s working visit. The President is expected to commission the Tono Water Project, and inspect the progress of work on the Agenda 111 project in the Bolgatanga East District.
