Upper East Regional Taekwando team wins 3 medals at Korean Ambassador’s Cup Tournament in Accra

The Upper East Regional Taekwando team has won three medals in the just ended Korean Ambassador’s cup in Accra.

The 12th Edition Of The Korean Ambassador’s cup, came off on Saturday 6th August, 2022 at the Korean Sports Complex in Accra; the national capital. It ended successfully with team Upper East winning two silver medals and one bronze medal.

Enterprising talent, Gideon Aduko won silver in fighting and Poomsae, whilst flexible Maxwell Adongo won bronze in Poomsae for the Junior category. Athletes in the senior category, Abdul Hasmiu and Abdul Adamu failed to win a medal.

The Upper East Regional Taekwando team has improved on the medal table this time around, having won only silver in the 2019 edition.

Due to COVID-19 and others, the Korean Embassy asked all member Associations to bring eight(8) athletes for the event, two for the seniors, two for the juniors, two for the cadet and two for Poomsae, but the Upper East team went with only four(4) athletes and out of four athletes, two athletes got to the medal zone.

The athletes that represented the Upper East Taekwando team are, Adongo Maxwell and Aduko Gideon for the juniors whilst Abdul Hasmiu and Abdul Adamu for the seniors and was led by Master Michael Ayine, the head coach of the Association together with Jesse Apalazoya, a coach and an administrator.
