The Member of Parliament for the Nabdam Constituency is confident that under his watch as MP for the area, he has sunk more resources into building new or expanding already existing physical infrastructure more than what has been done by the District Assembly over the past few years.

This, he said, has been done despite the delays in the disbursement of the District Assembly Communc Fund, in effect, the MP’s Fund.

He said this when he spoke on A1 Radio’s Day Break Upper East Show in a recent interview.

“Even though they say the MP is not supposed to be carrying out constructional work, if you go to my constituency, I am not boasting but I believe that I have done more constructional work; visible constructional work than the assembly.”

“The Nabdam DACF, I get about 1/10 but the bureaucracy that they have created over there [is the problem]. Tree planting, they have employed over 200 people and they [the Assembly] are using this money [DACF] to pay them,” he said.

Meanwhile, the MP was not happy about the delays in the disbursement of the DACF. He said as MP, he has been able to access only up to the 3 quarter of last year of the Fund, a situation that puts an untold burden on the MP.

Dr. Nawaane explained that for some of the developmental projects he is carrying out, he has had to rely on the contractors to contract loans and complete the projects in the hopes that the Fund would be disbursed quickly and then he could remunerate the contractors.
