Upper East Regional Sports Authority holds stakeholder meeting ahead of 2022 health walk

The Upper East Regional Sports Authority in collaboration with the Upper East Regional Coordination Council (UERCC), has organized a stakeholder meeting with heads of some institutions in Bolgatanga, ahead of an upcoming health walk.

The meeting came off, Wednesday 17th August, 2022 at the Regional Coordination Council.

It was meant to educate members on the latest happenings in the area of sports development.  Present at the meeting were the Municipal District Director Alhaji Ibrahim representing the UERCC and representations from the National Sports Authority.

Also present at the meeting were representatives from the Ghana Education Service, the National Ambulance Service, the Ghana Health Service and the Ghana Armed Forces.

Speaking to A1 Sports after the meeting, Marketing Officer with the NSA, Abdul Salam said sports is an activity that unites people. For this reason, the health walk to be is organized just to build social cohesion among the various departments within the region.

“The region has got over 80 plus governmental departments and the purpose of this health walk is to unify these Departments and create the platform to familiarize with each other in other to create an easy accessibility or rapport between the departments in the Region.”

“If you think health-wise, of course, the programme is something well planned and the timing is right especially in this raining season,” Mr. Salam added.

He encouraged and called on all and sundry to avail themselves for the health walk, saying, “there will be health screening and a platform to meet dignitaries that can be of help to us and more to the point, we will walk together to create that unifying co-existence.”

The maiden edition of the health walk comes off on Saturday 20th August, 2022. It is expected to start at 5:30 am prompt.

Participants would converge at the Bolgatanga Sports Stadium. They would then move through the ‘Comme ci Comme ca’ road, march through the principal streets and regroup at the stadium.
