Panka Abubakar Sediq from Pelungu nominated for prestigous 40 under 40 award

Panka Abubakari Sediq, an enthusiastic visual artist, corporate marketer, and project manager, has been nominated for the 40 under 40 award scheme. The award scheme is to celebrate “Young Achievers And Emerging Leaders Under Forty.”

Mr. Sediq of Panka Arts studied Industrial Arts at the Tamale Technical University. He’s a student at Domestika, a community-based programme for creative professionals, in Germany, studying Corporate Marketing and Project Management.

While speaking to A1 Radio, Mr. Sediq said, “I grew up with art, stayed in an art environment, studied art from basic school to tertiary. Mostly my experiences and environment [influences me] when it comes to art.”

 

“I see art to be part of me. Initially, I was doing art out of passion but now art is something I see as source of income and revenue to myself and to the nation.”

Mr. Sediq disclosed that he has been pursuing his passion since 2008. While it remains capital intensive, art has brought some decent level of revenue.

“I can’t really specify the amount I have made from art, but a lot. Everything I have, working with, working for, from education to my family responsibilities and projects is as a result of money from art. I feel like I’m invest so much from the money made from art.”

Mr. Sediq suspects his friends and close associates nominated him for the award; an award he wants to win.

“As a corporate marketer, wining the awards will be a stepping stone. People have always been so supportive towards me. Some are already voting and keep assuring me that they are supporting. They believe winning the awards is going to inspire a lot of young people out there and also project the region name as well.”

The Panka Artstudio focuses on contemporary arts, digital arts, recreational arts and general artworks. Mr. Sediq is also co-founder and producer of Showbiz Hour on YEM radio 89.1fm.
