The Assemblyman for Kumblingo/Bolingo Electoral Area in the Bolgatanga Municipality of the Upper East Region, Stephen Abelimah Akugre has drilled 9 boreholes to enhance access to potable water in the area.
Stephen Abelimah Akugre spoke on the Day Break Upper East Show on A1Radio today, September 26, 2022.
He says the water situation in the electoral area was not good “but God being so good to us, I can personally voice out that the water situation now is good.”
According to the Assemblyman, the entire electoral area was having about four boreholes which were not enough to serve the people.
“As I speak I was able to provide about nine boreholes to my community as an assembly member. If I say to provide, it doesn’t mean that it’s my money, I was able to lobby for. So far is about nine boreholes and I have outstanding four boreholes to drill for them after the rainy season. But I think in general the water situation now is fine.”
Mr. Akugre says before, residents in the electoral area were competing with animals to fetch water from the small dam in the community.
“Gradually if God willing this dry season coming I can boast of saying that it will be hundred percent water coverage in my community,” he added.
