Team of Hope to conduct free surgeries at Sandema Hospital

Team of Hope, a Non-Governmental Organization operating in the Upper East Region will be conducting free surgeries at the Sandema Municipal Hospital from the 14th November, 2022 to 18th November, 2022.

The biannual event by the organization started in October, 2016 with a mandate to respond to the health needs of people in the rural parts of the country.

Team of Hope seeks to among others, mobilise collective actions towards responding to the health needs of people on the margins of society.

In June, 2022, 89 patients from Buluk and neighbouring environs benefited from the free surgery carried out by the organization. The organization since its inception has offered varied health services including free medical screening and operations to 1,742 clients from various rural communities within Northern Ghana. 

The organization will undertake surgery cases such as hernias, piles, hydroceles, fibroids, ovarian cysts, breast lumps, lipomas, goitre, and several other health conditions. The Sandema and Wiega Hospitals, Fumbisi, Gbedema, Kanjarga, Siniensi and Chuchuliga Health Centers are designated registration points for patients.

The organization also encouragd  people with any medical condition to visit the facilties listed with their NHIS card to benefit from the surgery. 

The team of surgeons to undertake the various forms of surgeries will be led by its Executive Director, Dr. Benjamin Akingkang.
