The Member of Parliament for the Nabdam constituency in the Upper East Region, Dr. Mark Kurt Nawaane has broken ground for the construction of a kindergarten school block in Dasabligo to begin.
Speaking at a brief ground-breaking ceremony in the community, Dr. Nawaane said the construction of the KG block became necessary after the community members drew his attention to the need to construct a classroom block for children of school-going age in the community.
According to the MP, over the past years, he has been using his social intervention fund to help bridge the deficit in the provision of some social amenities in the area of health, education and general social infrastructure.
“The issue is that the KG was a temporary structure and they wanted to build a mud structure and I told them that I will see what I can do. I said to myself, this is a community I come from. It is my home so if I put up the structure, I build it for myself. I discussed it with the education directorate that we have to get them a building.”
“So with the little resources that come through the GETFund and the social intervention fund that I put up last four years, I disbursed it on issues of health but now I am putting it on education, that is how we are trying to build this KG block,” he said.
The Nabdam MP, Dr. Nawaane also called on elders and members of the community to provide the contractor with the necessary support for him to properly execute the project for the benefit of the community.
The Nabdam District Director of Education, Mrs. Mary Magdalene Wompakeah, said the KG block is very important for the Dasabligo community because of the continued increase in enrollment numbers within the community.
