The Vice President, Alhaji Dr. Mahamadu Bawumia has directed the contractor handling the Agenda 111 project in Kassena- Nankana West District to up his game and hasten the construction of the facility.

According to the Vice President, the slow pace of work is disappointing because of the huge investment the government has committed to the programme.

The project was awarded in February 2022 with some level of funding yet the project was still at the foundation.

The Vice President paid a visit to the site on Friday as part of his working visit to the Upper East Region.

“I’m not happy about the progress of work, it’s not satisfactory, the Consultant himself has confessed to me. So, I expect to see changes within a possible time.”

What led the Akufo-Addo government to adopt the initiative, Dr. Bawumia said, was due to the lack of hospitals in some districts across the country.

“This holistic approach to build 111 standard hospitals is to address the health needs of over 90 districts without hospitals, and 7 regional and three psychiatric hospitals across the country.”

The consultant, therefore gave the assurance that work will continue quickly to meet the scheduled timelines.
