The Vice President is being criticized by Monica Bakiva, a contender for deputy women’s organizer in the Upper East Region of the NDC. She has questioned the VEEP’s understanding of the economy and his capacity to improve it.

While the COVID-19, Russia-Ukraine war’s effects on the nation are still being felt, as members of the ruling government have stated, Madam Bakiva explained that now would be a good moment for Vice President Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia to demonstrate his much-touted economic acumen.

Mada Bakiva presumed that because of the VEEP’s stark incompetence, he’s been unable to influence the situation positively.

She was speaking on A1 Radio’s Day Break Upper East Show.

“These were people that said they were better managers of the economy and that they were coming to make Ghana heaven. It is rather hell. It is the opposite of what they said.”

“Nana Akufo Addo then said, we were sitting on money and yet we were suffering. What has changed today? They said they are moving Ghana from production to taxation but now, it is not even taxation. It is now broad daylight robbery. Nobody is laughing at all,” she said.

Madam Bakiva continued to say, “in our neighbouring countries, Burkina Faso, Togo, we are blessed more than these countries yet they are doing better than us. It is just our leaders, they are mismanaging the economy. My party was doing far better than they are doing. When they have the economic messiah, a whole Alhaji Mahamudu Bawumia, yet look at what is happening. Now is the time we need more of his town hall lectures. We are not hearing of him. They lied their way to power.”
