The Pro Vice Chancellor of the CK Tedam University of Technology and Applied Sciences, Bishop Professor Albert Luguterah has admonished actors in academia to strive harder to climb the academic ladder.

According to the astute professor, success in the field of academia is achieved through intentional and conscious daily improvement on what one is determined to achieve

Addressing the audience at the second inaugural lecture at C K Tedam University of Technology and Applied Sciences on the topic ‘ The Statistics, the Noise, and the Cacophony – Applying Statistics in a Contemporary World’, the Bishop cum professor said it is not possible for one to achieve higher heights by cutting corners.

He said “I leave the future of Academia, and particularly Statistics, into your hands. Work harder, achieve more, rise faster and more importantly rise with people, particularly the next generation.”

“You can, and should, achieve this not by cutting corners, but by working your way up. Earn it, for there is pride in earning your status rather than being handed what you don’t deserve – you cannot defend it. Always remember, that it takes standards to maintain standards. An immature and improperly cooked academic at the top, is not only a threat but a danger to the future of academia, and of the nation.”

“The road in academia can be very treacherous, but I know you are capable of weathering the storm. Always let your work and worth speak for you, and let God be your defence.”
