The Member of Parliament for Navrongo, Sampson Tangombu Chiragiaa is appealing for calm as the election process in the area hit a snag over the weekend. As a result of the challenges, there were only elections for the Youth Organiser, Deputy Youth Organiser, Women Organiser and Deputy Women Organiser positions.

The election of the remaining executive positions could not be conducted. When Mr. Tangombu spoke to Mark Smith on A1 Radio’s Day Break Upper East, he explained that the necessary processes had been completed and that delegates should maintain their calm and composure.

“There were a few challenges. There were some mixed up ballot papers. With the printing too, there were some ink issues. Also, there were general delays,” he said.

The challenges, Mr. Tangombu said, were expected. He mentioned that as a government in waiting, they were ready to surmount the challenges.

“You know what they say, the higher the risk, the higher the reward. We are coming to power and so whatever we are doing, they would definitely be challenges … we were forced to put the election on hold and resolve the challenges,” he added.

He apologised to the delegates for the inconvenience caused and continued to appeal for a high level of patience.
