“There were only 3 areas that were not able to complete the processes. We have Bongo. For Bongo, they are left with [the election of the] 8 others. But we did the election all over. The problem there was that with the 8 others, there was a change in the numbers and the people really protested. If I went round campaigning using 3 and you go and give me 5 [there would be problems]. They [the contestants] were using the numbers to campaign and so we saw wisdom in what they were saying.”

Donatus Nyaaba, the Upper East Regional Chairman of the Election for the NDC said this when he spoke on A1 Radio’s Day Break Upper East Show.

While there were significant delays throughout the region caused mostly by problems with the ballots, 12 constituencies were able to finish the process. Some others, however, were unable to finish the procedure. The procedure didn’t start for the Chiana-Paga constituency.

Mr. Nyaaba explained that all the necessary arrangements have been put in place to allow the election to come off in the coming days.

“In the case of Navrongo, they finished with the youth and women [organisers] but there were again issues with the ballot in Navrongo. The ballots were not printed properly because of the pressure we mounted on the people printing the ballot. We insisted that the corrections should be done and all those corrections have been done waiting for Sunday [October 29, 2022].”

“The third one is Chiana-Paga where we have not started the process at all. Everything has been put in place now and we are scheduling this coming Wednesday to have that done,” he said.
