The Business Advisory Centre under the Ghana Enterprises Agency (GEA) in collaboration with Builsa South District Assembly on Wednesday, 12th of October, 2022, organised a district sensitization workshop on the Ghana Jobs and Skills Project. The project is to support skills development and job creation in Ghana.
Speaking on behalf of the CEO, Mrs. Kosi Yankey-Ayeh, of GEA, the Head of Business Advisory Centre Mr. Saeed Jafar said the project was expected to support about 50,000 youth and early adults who have the potential to start a business. Adding that the training programme will be in three (3) levels; Basic, Intermediate and Advanced.
“GEA will implement Entrepreneurship Training and Grant Support under Component 2.1 of the World Bank Funded Ghana Jobs and Skills Project (GJSP). The Project Objective is to support skills development and job creation in Ghana.”
“The Agency will provide entrepreneurship training to 50,000 youth and early adults who have the potential to start a business. Three levels of entrepreneurship training will be offered: basic, intermediate, and advanced.”
According to him, the training will be district based and non-residential. Adding that business start-up grants will be made available for youth who successfully completed the program. It will be given to entrepreneurs with high potential to succeed in business and operate in any of the non-resource-based sectors
“All training will be delivered using an experiential participatory approach conducive for adult learning and will also be district based and non-residential. The project also seeks to support in the area of Competitive Business Start-up Grants. These grants will be available to individuals and self-formed groups, majority-owned by Ghanaians, with high potential to succeed in business, and operating in any of the non-resource-based sectors.”
Speaking at the event on behalf of the DCE for the area, the Presiding Member, John Peter Apaabey encouraged the participants who were drawn from all sectors of the economy to cease opportunities introduced by the government and make efforts to own their Future.
