This year’s overall best farmer of the Nabdam District, Bayeta Kiimbey  has admonished youth of the area to consider venturing into farming so as to sustain their finances.

According to him, it is imperative to fully go into farming regardless of one’s profession since that would help save finances that would have been spent on  foodstuffs.

Recounting how helpful he has been to the poor and needy in the society, Mr. Bayeta charged people who are well to do, to endeavour to always feed the less privileged in society when they can.

He was speaking to a section of the media shortly after he was adjudged as the overall best farmer of the Nabdam District, during the celebration of the 38th edition of National Farmers’ Day. He spoke in Nabt.

“I am urging everybody to try and use the hoe. The hoe is the key to sustenance. If you are able to farm, everything of yours becomes successful. Even if you farm while working in the public sector, there is no need for you to spend your salary on foodstuffs. I help orphans, the poor and the needy every year.”

As the winner of the prestigious award, Mr. Bayeta went home with a brand new tricycle, a cutlass , a knapsack sprayer, a pair of Wellington boots and a certificate of honour.

When pressed whether he was satisfied with the awards, Mr. Bayeta  expressed his contentment and happiness over the awards, adding that it would  make farming easier for him.

He was full of thanks to the government for recognizing his efforts but was quick to suggest to the government to deem it necessary to replace the tricycle with a car next year.
