5th Edition of ‘Upper East Old Skuuls Re-Union’ launched

The 2022/2023 Upper East Old Skuul Reunion has been launched in Zuarungu, the District capital of Bolga East in the Upper East Region.

The launch of the yearly games meant for the old students of the various second cycle schools in the region, took place at the Blue Sky Hotel on Saturday 17th December, 2022.

The Organizer of the Upper East Old Skuul Reunion, Prosper Anaba decried the difficulty to get sponsorship for such programmes. Mr. Anaba called on winners of the competition to use the funds won to put up visible projects in their schools to serve as motivation to entice sponsors.

The event is powered by a private Radio Station, Word 88.3 Fm.

This year’s event is sponsored by Charger Limited, producers of Happy Man Plus 2 Bitters with support from Malta Guinness and Ebony Condoms.

Edward Anafo, Regional Manager of Charger Industries restated the organisation’s commitment to the event.

This year’s games will witness the various old school students compete in football, volleyball, cards, tag of peace, egg on spoon race, 100m and sack race. Jama competition and Gari soakings are non scoring games. 

In addition there shall be a float within the principal streets of the Bolgatanga Municipality and also an opening ceremony to usher in the games.

On 2nd January 2023, there would be a Dinner night to award deserving schools.

In the first edition in 2018/2019, Zamstech Old students were the winners. In the second edition 2019/2020, Bigboss old students were adjudged the winners. In the third edition, 2020/2021 Botech Old students picked the Ultimate and in the fourth edition, 2021/2022 Sansec Old students were champions. This year’s games will mark the 5th Edition which is 2022/2023.

The various winners took home Ghc 500, Ghc1000, Ghc3,000 and Ghc5,000 respectively, this year’s winner will walk home with Ghc6,000.

The games are scheduled for 31st December, 2022 and1st January, 2023 at the Bolgatanga Mobil Astro Turf Field.
