Bolga Municipal Assembly seeking private partnership to redevelop children’s park

The Bolgatanga Municipal Assembly is seeking private partners that would support the development of a number of properties in the Municipality.

Among these properties that are under consideration is the children’s park.

Rex Asanga, the Bolga MCE said this when he spoke in a recent interview on A1 Radio’s Day Break Upper East Show with Mark Smith.

“We are looking forward to doing a lot of things next year with the SOCO projects and the mechanical enclave and all. Like I said, we would also be looking for more investors to do a lot of things. The children’s park, you know the children’s park is one thing we are looking at. We are looking for private investors who would come and take it up to be able to transform it into a private modern park. We have started discussions with one Ghanaian resident in China. It has however been sometime now. We are inviting those who have the interest to come forward,” he said.

It would be recalled that recently, Narrative Changers, a pressure group in the Upper East Region expressed some grave concern about the state of the public park.

“Those of us who grew up in the upper east region, can testify that we had a super feeling visiting the children’s park. Kudos to those leaders who mooted the idea of creating a recreational centre for children in those archaic days. Today, we those who enjoyed these facilities at the children’s park have become young men and holding positions of leadership but have so easily forgotten the importance of this facility to children. The facilities there today have deteriorated to the extent that children no longer visit the place. Are we being fair to the current generation? Narrative changers are hereby appealing to authorities to give this place a facelift so that our kids will find an educational and a recreational centre to engage themselves productively. When we refuse to engage our kids productively, the devil will do,” the group wrote on its official Facebook page.
