Mirigu Development Association climaxes homecoming with commitment to develop Mirigu

Mirigu Development Association (MiDA) has climaxed the maiden edition of Mirigu Homecoming Celebration with a commitment to develop and foster peace within the Mirigu Traditional Area in the Kassena-Nankana West District of the Upper East Region.

The maiden edition of the Mirigu Homecoming Celebration, organised by the Mirigu Development Association (MiDA) was an occasion to bring together natives of Mirigu to foster peace, unity and development of the area.

In a speech read by the Chairman of the Homecoming Planning Committee, Dr. Edward Awafo on behalf of Charles Akurugo, the President of Mirigu Development Association at Mirigu it was communicated, among other things, the aim of the association is to commit its quota to developing the area.

“The idea of Mirigu Development Association was born with the commitment to uphold the dignity of every Mira by maintaining a genuine independent development organisation of Miriba for developing, promoting, sustaining and defending educational and social interests of Mirigu at large and to the promote unity within the Traditional Area and among the surrounding towns and villages for a peaceful co-existence, as captured in the preamble of its constitution.”

“Fostering peace, unity and love among all Miriba and promoting and improving cordial relationships among the people of the surrounding towns and communities for peaceful co-existence and development. As we all know, there is no sustainable development without peace,” he said.

Mirigu Homecoming Celebration saw the presence of the various dancing groups in the area expressing their joy and excitement through cultural performance for the first of its kind in the area.

The dignitaries who graced the occasion include; Paramount Chief of the Mirigu Traditional Area, Naba Anthony Abisa Anonsona Atasige III, Chief of Nabango Naba Atoguzoya Atuguba, the Upper East Regional Minister Stephen Yakubu, the District Chief Executive for the Kassena-Nankana West Gerard Ataogye the Upper East Regional Peace Council Chairman among other Chiefs and traditional leaders and Elders.
