The Upper East Athletics Association, Saturday 7th January, 2023, outdoored its regional executives.
As mandated by the Ghana Athletics Association (GAA) each region is expected to have executives that would spearhead the activities of the Association.
The Exercise took place at the Bolgatanga Senior Secondary School’s (Big Boss) Conference Hall.
Ababu Afelibeik is the Chairman of the Upper East Athletics Association. He doubles as the President of the Ghana Athletics Association (GAA). Dasmani Abu would Deputise Mr. Afelibeik.
Other members are Abubakar Muntasir from the National Sports Authority, Upper East Branch as the Secretary, Robert Tunaba as the Assistant Secretary, Madam Francisca Zanore as Treasurer, John Ali Atia as Organizer and Erastus Franklin Towoni as the Technical Adviser of the Association.
In Ababu Afelibeik’s welcome address, decried the lack of funds to aid transportation of athletes.
Bawa Fuseini, Chief Executive Officer Of the Ghana Athletics Association (GAA) also applauded chairman for his strong conviction for the sport saying “he is someone who is determined in his work, the reason he has succeeded in making sure athletics is doing well in the Upper East Region and Ghana as a whole.”
The occasion was graced by the National Treasurer Christopher Darko, Daniel Duut the North East Chairman, Dominic Asabia Former Director of the National Sports Authority Upper East Branch and the Upper East Police PRO ASP David Okyere Fianko.
The theme for the occasion was “Harnessing the Athletics potentials of the Upper East Region, the role of the stakeholders.”
The newly sworn in executives have been tasked to empower and to help develop young and upcoming athletes for the region and the country at large.
