Tindonsobligo beat Kalbeo to lift Frafra Unity Football Gala Trophy

The 2022/2023 Frafra Unity Inter-Community Football Gala came to an end successfully on Sunday 8th January, 2023. The Tindonsobligo team was crowned champions after a hard fought 1-0 victory over Kalbeo.

Tindonsobligo community got to the finals in the maiden edition last year but lost on penalties to Tanzui.

This year, luck was on their side as Samuel Nbura’s second half strike deflected to beat the goalkeeper in post for Kalbeo. The strike was the lone goal which won the game for Tindonsobligo. 

The Tindonsobligo community as winners took home a trophy, set of jersey, three balls and a cash Prize of Ghc 700.

The Kalbeo community, as first runners up, received a set of jerseys and two balls.

For the individual awards, Nuhu Iliasu of Bukere won the Young Player of the Tournament. He won 2 Man of the Match awards during the tournament and scored two goals. He was given a football boot, shin guards and stockings.

Philip Goldan Of Tindonsobligo won the Best Goalkeeper of the Tournament after conceding only two goals in the entire tournament and winning one man of the match award during the tournament. He was given a glove, shin guards and stockings.

Goerge Zuure from Kalbeo won the Top Scorer Award with 4 goals. He was given football boots, shin guards and stockings. 

The Overall Best Player of the tournament went to James Atiah of Kalbeo. He won two man of the match awards during the tournament and guided his side to the finals. He took home a football boots, shin guards and stockings whilst the Best Behaved Community went to Bolga Sherigu Community. They took home a football.

The Upper East Regional Minister, Stephen Yakubu who was the guest of Honour urged the organisers to keep it up and try to open it up to other Districts or Constituencies. 

Also in attendance were the Bolgatanga Municipal Chief Executive Rexford Asanga, the Chairman of the Upper East Regional Football Association Salifu Shaibu Zida, the PRO of the Upper East Regional Police Command ASP David Okyere Fianko.

Meanwhile all the sixteen(16) communities that participated in the tournament received a football each which was donated to the organisers by Michael Atinga, Bolgatanga Central Constituency Youth Organizer Of the Ruling New Patriotic Party (NPP).
