Two communities, Wiesi and Doninga in the Builsa South District of the Upper East Region have dragged their District Chief Executive, Daniel Kwame Gariba to court for diverting GetFund Emergency Projects to other communities.

According to members of the two communities, the DCE has diverted the two-unit classroom blocks to his preferred communities where construction works have begun.

The projects, according to the communities, were awarded on 14th June 2022 titled ‘GetFund emergency projects in the Builsa South District’ specifically for them.

But the DCE, members of the communities say, failed to follow due procedure, and rather, asked for the projects to be sited in different communities for political reasons. Speaking to the media, the plaintiff, James Abaabeg explained that the DCE’s action not only contradicts the procurement process but undermines the GetFund directive and reasoned they have taken the matter to court.

Meanhile, the DCE, Daniel Kwame Gariba, when contacted, declined to speak on the matter.
