Solomon Zinekena, the immediate past Constituency Secretary for the National Democratic Congress in the Talensi Constituency of the Upper East Region has made public his decision to contest the party’s primaries in the hope of leading the NDC to the polls in the 2024 election.

Speaking to Mark Smith on A1 Radio’s Day Break Upper East Show, Mr. Zinekena explained that he had dedicated close to two decades of his life in full service of the party and thus wants to continue to serve the party in a higher capacity now.

“All is set and we are poised to serve the good people of Talensi. I have been through the mill. I have served the party diligently. I have been on the grounds for about 2 decades. There is no year that I haven’t participated in any political activity. I started as a serial caller in 2007. My elder brother, Paul Danka, was there. I started as a branch secretary and moved from the branch secretary and became a TEIN president. I became a constituency secretary and a member of the regional communications team. I also served as an aide to the National Deputy Women’s Organiser. I have been a part of major elections as part of the monitoring teams. I have given it all to the party, my brothers and sisters and especially, to the youth in Talensi,” he said.

According to Mr. Zinekena, a vote for him, would mean a vote for a young development oriented individual who would pursue the development of young people in Talensi.

“We want to bring leadership to the doorsteps of our colleagues. We want to infiltrate the unenviable rock of underdevelopment in Talensi. We want to make the youth voices be heard. That is why I am coming in. We need to rekindle the base of Talensi,” he said.

Mr. Zinekena is expected to pick a nomination form on February 22nd, 2023. Benson Tongo Baba is the current MP for Talensi.
