The Municipal chief Executive of Kassena Nankana in the upper East Region, Joseph Adongo has admitted that works on the Navrongo-Naaga stretch of the road has stalled due to funding issues.

While the contractor may not have packed out completely from the site, very minimal work is being done. These, according to the MCE, are ancillary works attached to the road project.

Construction of the the 42.2Km Navrongo-Naaga road started in 2020.

Speaking to Mark Smith on Daybreak Upper East show, Mr. Adongo said funding has become a challenge forcing the contractor to pause the work.

Mr. Adongo dispelled claims that the contractor, Plans construction Ltd, had packed their equipment out of site.

He said, “let me put it on record that the contractor for the Navrongo- Naaga road has never left the site. He has never left the site. The issue I know is about payments and what I know is that they are still at their camp. They have a camp there, so the people are there, the heavy equipment is there, everything is still there, and when they get the money, they will continue with the work. They have not abandoned the place, that is not it. The work is not going on but you know there are certain things that they do inside their camp. I don’t know what happens inside that will help them facilitate the work when finally they take off. So I cannot say nothing is going on.”
