Giant telecommunication network providers, MTN Ghana has organised a blood donation exercise on Valentine’s Day to support the Upper East Regional Blood Bank.

The initiative, according to the Upper Regional Manager for MTN Ghana, Richard Asamani was in response to the continued calls by the Upper East Regional Hospital on organisations and individuals to support its blood bank.

The exercise was to collect 400 pints of blood.

He also called on individuals and organisations to conduct similar exercises as part of efforts to end the yearly issues of blood shortages at the regional hospital.

Talking to the media, Mr. Asamani noted that due to the Covid-19 Pandemic, the initiative was put on hold for two years.

“It has been an annual event for us as MTN because we believe that a period like this is where people need the love the most hence this exercise. And you will realise that for two years we have not been able to organise it and it was due to the covid-19. But here we are again today to start it. And we believe we will get the results that we want from MTN as we always get the best results.”

Some of the participants from the various Senior High schools and tertiary institutions in the region who were there to donate their blood used the event to call on their friends to use blood donation as a way of saving innocent lives.
