The people of the Navrongo Central Constituency are being called upon to fairly assess the performance of the MP for the area, Sampson Tangombu Chiragiaa.

This results of such an assessment would decide whether the incumbent member of Parliament, Mr. Tangombu Chiragiaa wins the NDC primaries and then eventually wins the Navrongo seat on behalf of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) or not.

“That is for you to decide. That is for the people of Navrongo to decide. They would be the best judge. As for me, normally, I say I cannot be my own judge,” Mr. Tangombu Chiragiaa said this when he spoke on A1 Radio’s Day Break Upper East Show.

Meanwhile, 4 others have picked up forms and hope to contest the upcoming primaries.

They are Simon Akibange Aworigo, Stanislaus Alu Kadingdi, Sampson Tangombu Chiragia, Pius Ayemva Avio And Dr. Jacob Paarechuga Anankware.

According to the MP, competition is a show of true democracy and as such, he has no qualms with the other individuals who have picked up forms to contest him.

“It is normal. It is politics. It is democracy. The last time we were 5 and if this time we are still 5, I think it is normal. They are expressing their interest to let the people of Navrongo know that they are ready to serve them and the region.”

Whoever wins, would need the party’s support to cross the major hurdle in 2024, the MP said.

“It is just my hope that whoever wins, we should come together and support that person because Navrongo is bigger than an individual,” he said.
